Introduction to Cartooning

Class Description

Ages 9 and up

Students will learn to develop their own cartoon characters. Weekly lessons will help students learn how to apply expressions, proportions, and elements of design, to their characters. Teaching methods will include demonstrations, examples, and specific exercises. Students will be introduced to the basics of drawing, and will work from reference images as well as from their own imaginations. They will learn how to construct cartoons and approach an illustration in 3 steps: thumbnail sketches, rough sketches and a finished pencilled illustration. This class is for anyone interested in learning how to draw cartoons, Manga, or graphic novels.

*A supply cost will be added to the cost of the class. This will cover the cost of consumable supplies to be used during the class time for student projects. Estimated approx $25

  • This class is a prerequisite for the Advanced Cartooning for children class.
