This one week, half day camp will offer children basic art skill such as line, shape, value, colour and texture. The students will learn to use a variety of mediums including pencil, pastel, acrylic, watercolour, clay and more. There will be snack and story breaks and if the weather permits the instructor will take them to the park.
Students will learn to develop their own cartoon characters. Lessons will help students to give their characters emotions, movement, personality, and possibly a story. Teaching methods will include demos, examples, and specific exercises. Students will be introduced to the basics of drawing and colouring, and will work from reference images as well as from their own imaginations. They will begin by creating rough drawings, which will then be refined, lined in ink, and coloured with pencil crayons. Although there will be a theme or structure to each class, students will be encouraged to experiment and apply their own creativity.
